This Privacy Policy explains how Younison, Inc. ("Younison", "we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, stores, processes, and protects personal data when you use the Younison platform, applications, websites, and services (the "Platform").
Younison handles personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 ("GDPR"), the UK GDPR, the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection, and the California Consumer Privacy Act / California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA/CPRA"). Where a particular law applies to you, you may have specific rights as set out in this Policy or under that law.
For most musician-facing services on the Platform — including account management, audition submissions, assessments, jury feedback, and direct communications — Younison, Inc. acts as the data controller for your personal data:

In specific circumstances, another party may act as data controller for certain processing. For example, when you apply to an orchestra, conservatory, or competition, that institution typically acts as data controller for its own evaluation and hiring decisions, while Younison acts as data processor on its behalf. The applicable arrangement will be made clear where relevant.

As Younison, Inc. is established outside the European Union, we have appointed an EU Representative pursuant to Article 27 GDPR. Data subjects in the EU/EEA may contact our EU Representative directly regarding any matter related to the processing of their personal data:

The appointment of Younison SRL as EU Representative is formalized in writing between Younison, Inc. and Younison SRL, and Younison SRL maintains internal records of the designation as required under Article 27 GDPR.
The categories of data we collect depend on how you use the Platform, which services you request, your location, and the features available to you. We may collect the following:
4.1 Account & profile data
Name, email address, password (in hashed form), profile picture, country, language preferences, and other profile information you choose to provide.
Date of birth or age. We collect your date of birth or age in order to verify eligibility to use the Platform, in particular in relation to the minimum-age requirements and parental-consent flows described in our Terms & Conditions.
Parental/guardian information. For users between 13 and 17, we also collect the name and contact details of a parent or legal guardian and a confirmation of their consent to the Minor's use of the Platform.
4.2 Professional data
Curriculum vitae, education and training history, professional experience, instruments, repertoire, references, links to external profiles, and other professional information you submit.
4.3 Audition content
Audio and video recordings, photographs, and related performance content you submit through the Platform. These recordings may include:
- your voice, image, and performance;
- background and environmental information visible or audible in the recording (such as the room, instruments, or surroundings);
- accompanists, performers, or other individuals who appear or perform with you, where applicable;
- repertoire and performance metadata you provide.
Where the Platform captures it, we also process technical and authenticity-related metadata (such as device information, signal characteristics, environmental checks, and similar data) to support recording integrity and comparability across submissions.
4.4 Evaluation data
Scores, written feedback, evaluation categories, jury notes, and aggregated assessment results.
4.5 Payment data
Billing information, transaction history, and limited payment metadata. Full payment card data is handled directly by our payment processor (Stripe, Inc.) and is not stored by Younison.
4.6 Communications
Support requests, in-platform messages, emails, and feedback you send us.
4.7 Device, technical, and usage data
IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, language settings, time zone, referring URLs, pages visited, actions taken, and timestamps.

4.9 Information from third parties
We may also receive personal data about you from third parties, including:
- Jury members — scores, written feedback, evaluation notes, and other input provided regarding your submissions;
- Institutions — audition outcomes, advancement decisions, ranking information, and communications with Younison relating to your applications;
- Payment providers (such as Stripe) — transaction confirmations and limited payment metadata regarding payments you make on the Platform;
- External audition platforms — where Younison assists you with applications to opportunities published elsewhere, we may receive information from those platforms about your submissions or their outcomes;
- Authentication and single-sign-on providers — basic identity information when you use such services to log in;Analytics providers — anonymized or pseudonymized usage data about how you interact with the Platform (see Cookie Policy);
- Customer-support tools and communications providers — records of interactions you have with our support team;Public sources — institution websites or public announcements where relevant to opportunities displayed on the Platform.
Younison does not intentionally request or require special category personal data within the meaning of Article 9 GDPR (such as data concerning health, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade-union membership, genetic or biometric data, sex life, or sexual orientation), or comparable categories of sensitive personal data under other applicable law.
We may, however, process such data where it is strictly necessary for a specific service you have requested, or where required by applicable law, and only on a lawful basis under Article 9 GDPR (typically your explicit consent).
You should be aware that:
- audition recordings, photographs, or videos may incidentally reveal information of this nature (for example, your appearance, voice, or visible characteristics);
- CVs, biographies, references, support messages, or uploaded documents may include information you choose to share about your background, beliefs, health, or other sensitive matters;
- where you voluntarily submit such information, you consent to its processing for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.
We encourage you not to submit special category or sensitive personal data that is not necessary for the audition, service, or feature you are using. Where you become aware that you have submitted such information unintentionally, you may contact privacy@younison.com to request its review, restriction, or deletion.
We process personal data for the purposes set out below, relying on the legal bases identified in the table:

Younison does not use artificial intelligence to evaluate, score, rank, or make decisions about candidates. AI tools may be used solely to refine, structure, translate, or summarize written feedback drafted by human jury members. No video, audio, image, or CV content is submitted to AI systems for evaluation. There is no automated decision-making within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.
We share personal data only as necessary and only with the following categories of recipients:
- Institutions (orchestras, conservatories, competitions) to whom you submit applications. Each institution acts as an independent data controller for its own hiring, admission, and selection decisions, and is responsible for its own privacy practices, retention periods, communications with you, and the lawful use of any application materials it receives. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of each institution you apply to;
- Designated jury members authorized to evaluate your submissions;
- Service providers acting as processors on our behalf (hosting, payment, communications, analytics, customer support tooling);
- Professional advisors (lawyers, auditors, accountants), where necessary;
- Public authorities, where required by law or to defend legal rights;
- Successors in the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to equivalent protections.

Younison operates globally. Personal data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States, the European Union, and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate.
Where personal data is transferred from the EU/EEA, UK, or Switzerland to a country not recognized as providing adequate protection (such as the United States), Younison takes the steps required by applicable law to ensure that the transfer is lawful. This may include relying on Standard Contractual Clauses, UK or Swiss equivalents, supplementary measures, or any other transfer mechanism recognized under applicable data protection law.

Audition recordings and other Platform data are hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, role-based permissions, audit logging where applicable, and secure development practices.
No security system is fully impenetrable. In the event of a personal data breach affecting your data, we will notify the competent supervisory authority and, where required, you directly, in accordance with applicable law.
Access to Platform data is limited to Authorized Reviewers — Younison personnel, designated jury members and pre-screening reviewers, authorized institutions and their personnel, and service providers engaged by Younison under contractual confidentiality obligations.
Authorized Reviewers may access Platform data only as reasonably necessary for one or more of the following purposes: evaluation of Audition Materials and delivery of assessment services; customer support and incident response; maintenance, debugging, and quality assurance; fraud prevention and platform integrity; content moderation and security monitoring; legal compliance; and provision of services by third-party providers engaged by Younison.
Access is granted on a need-to-know basis, is subject to confidentiality obligations, and is governed by Younison's internal access controls. Internal logs are maintained where reasonably practicable.
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, taking into account:
- the duration of your relationship with Younison and your active use of the Platform;
- the nature and sensitivity of the data;
- legal, regulatory, accounting, and tax obligations applicable to Younison;
- the need to resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent fraud, and protect Platform integrity;
- legitimate business purposes such as audit, security, and benchmarking.
In general, account-related and audition-related data is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter. Financial records are retained for the period required by applicable tax and accounting law. Anonymized or aggregated data, which can no longer reasonably be linked back to you, may be retained indefinitely for statistical, research, and service-improvement purposes.
When personal data is no longer needed, it is deleted, anonymized, or made inaccessible, subject to backup-retention practices and the time reasonably required to complete deletion.
If you wish to request deletion of your data, please contact privacy@younison.com. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and will let you know if any data must be retained beyond that point and why.
Right to lodge a complaint. If you believe that your data has been processed unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority. EU and EEA users may contact the authority in their country of residence, place of work, or place of the alleged infringement.
Because Younison's EU Representative is established in Romania, the Romanian National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP) is also competent. You can reach ANSPDCP at:

The Platform is not directed at children under 13. Where personal data of a person under 16 is processed, consent must be granted by, or with the approval of, an individual with parental responsibility for the minor. If you become aware that a minor has provided personal data without proper consent, please contact privacy@younison.com.
Younison sends marketing communications (newsletters, product updates) only with your opt-in consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any marketing email or by writing to privacy@younison.com.
Transactional and service-related communications — such as account notifications, payment confirmations, audition status updates, jury feedback delivery, and security alerts — are necessary for the operation of the Platform and the services you have requested. These are not considered marketing and may be sent to you without separate consent.
Younison uses cookies and similar technologies in connection with the Platform. Detailed information about the types of cookies and tracking technologies we use, their purposes, retention periods, third-party providers, and your consent and preference options is available in our Cookie Policy (insert link to Cookie Policy).
Where required by applicable law, non-essential cookies and similar tracking technologies will only be used with your prior consent. You may manage or withdraw your cookie preferences at any time through the cookie settings available on the Platform.
The Platform may contain links to, integrations with, or embedded content from third-party services, including but not limited to:
- payment pages and payment providers (such as Stripe);
- external audition platforms and institution websites to which you may be directed;
- embedded media (such as video or audio players);
- analytics tools and similar measurement services;
- app stores (Apple App Store, Google Play) through which the Platform may be distributed;
- authentication or single-sign-on providers.
These third-party services are operated by independent parties under their own terms and privacy policies, and may process your personal data for their own purposes. Younison is not responsible for, and has no control over, the privacy practices, terms, or content of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before using their services or providing them with personal information.
Younison may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to registered users by email, in-app notification, or prominent posting on the Platform, normally with at least fifteen (15) days' advance notice.
Younison reserves the right to make immediate changes where required for legal, regulatory, security, fraud-prevention, or operational reasons, with notice provided as soon as reasonably practicable thereafter.
The "Effective Date" at the top of this document indicates the most recent update. Your continued use of the Platform after a Privacy Policy update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
You are responsible for ensuring that the personal, professional, and contact information you provide to Younison is accurate, complete, and kept up to date — particularly where that information is used for:
- audition applications and submissions;
- review and evaluation by institutions and jury members;
- eligibility verification, including age and parental-consent requirements;
- payment, invoicing, and refund processing;
- communications regarding the services you have requested.
